Flow phenomena are a crucial part of process control in the field of technical heat exchangers.

Typical problems are:

  • Non-ideal in let flow of bundle pipe heat exchangers in flue gas duct
  • Local transgression of the boiling temperature
  • Local thermal overload because of unfavourable phase distribution
  • Accumulation and fouling on boiler casings and bundle pipes

We use CFD for failure analysis and computer-aided optimisation, before costly alterations are made. Our CFD-aided solutions increase the efficiency of heat exchangers and their durability.

The use of CFD is optimally suited for comparative assessment of new concepts of chemical processing. A combination of statistic experiment design methods allows testing of operating parameters and geometries as well as automatic evaluation of many heat exchangers and reactor configurations in a short time. It also reduces the development time of new process equipment significantly.
